Since 1938, when the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act was passed, animal testing has played a major role in the development of new foods, drugs, and cosmetic products. In the United States alone, over 100 million animals are harmed and killed each year due to animal testing. As animal cruelty becomes more of a global issue, makeup brands are moving towards cruelty free alternatives. In an effort to support this movement and test out new products and brands, I created a makeup look using solely cruelty free makeup.

Primer: Marc Jacobs Coconut Primer

Not only does this primer have an amazingly refreshing coconut scent, but it hydrates your skin perfectly for foundation. I usually wear this alone to give a natural glow, but it looks great under face makeup as well.

Foundation: Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

This medium coverage foundation is perfect for everyday and special occasion use. It hydrates dry skin while concealing blemishes and evening out discoloration. While I only wear foundation occasionally, this is one I reach for when I do.

Concealer: Tarte Shape Tape Concealer

Since its launch a few years ago, this concealer has sold out almost every time it has hit the market! Known for its high coverage, this concealer will cover up almost any blemish! I personally love and use this concealer, but a little goes a long way.

Setting Powder: Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder

This powder has been recognized my makeup junkies all over the world for its ability to set makeup beautifully while not leaving flashback. The powder masterfully set my foundation and concealer, did not leave a tint, and did not have an overly drying effect. I recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a great new cruelty free setting powder.

Highlighter: Kevyn Aucoin Glass Glow Highlighter

This cruelty free highlighter is perfect for anyone who wants a natural glow. This liquid formula blends easily into the skin and looks natural upon application. It is my all-time favorite highlighter and although the price is high, it is one hundred percent worth it!

Bronzer: Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer

The name holds true on this product– the formula blends like butter! This bronzer gives off a nice natural flush of color without looking streaky or too orange.

Blush: Tata Harper Volumizing Lip and Cheek Tint

Tata Harper is known as an all-natural brand with “good for you” ingredients all while maintaining its stance as a cruelty free brand. This multipurpose cream blush and lip tint blends into the skin seamlessly while delivering the perfect amount of pink.

Eyeshadow: Morphe 35OM and 35OS Palettes

For a good eyeshadow palette at a drugstore price, there really is no better option that Morphe. I used the 35OS and 35OM palettes to create a beautifully blended smokey eye. Each palette has 35 colors (35OS contains only shimmers, and 35OM contains only mattes). With the wide array of both mattes and shimmers, there are so many eyeshadow options.

Eyeliner: E.L.F. Intense Ink Eyeliner

This eyeliner is extremely affordable and cruelty free! Its quick drying formula ensures that there is no smudging and its felt tip pen allows you to maneuver the eyeliner to trace your waterline perfectly!

Mascara: Too Faced Damn Girl Mascara

This mascara did not live up to my expectations. Its brush was too wide and made my lashes clumpy and less full than other mascaras. If you are looking for a cruelty-free lengthening formula, I suggest Tarte’s Lights Cameras Lashes mascara.

Lip liner: NYX Retractable Lip Liner

This drugstore lip liner is the perfect edition to anyone’s makeup routine! It is affordable, glides easily, and stays in place. What more could someone ask out of a lip liner!

Lipstick: It Cosmetics Vitality Lip Flush

This lipstick is perfect if you want your lipstick to resemble your natural lip color. This clear formula reacts with your skin’s pH to develop the perfect color of pink for your lips. It is a product that is suitable for all!
